Roundup: Valley, Ritchie County get wins

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Keyshawn Payne rushed for 106 yards, including a 52-yard touchdown, on just eight carries to lead Class A No. 8 Valley to a 44-14 victory over visiting Clay County in high school football in Montgomery on Friday.

Casey Stewart added a pair of rushing touchdowns for the Greyhounds (3-0), and Jordan Lucas ran for 102 yards, including an 80-yard TD scamper in the third quarter, on just nine carries for the Panthers (1-3).

RITCHIE COUNTY 14, BRAXTON COUNTY 0: Quarterback Alex Lipscomb hit Jayden Allender on a 30-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter and broke loose for an 84-yard TD run in the third to lead Ritchie County to victory at Braxton County.

Lipscomb carried eight times for 134 yards and completed 5 of 18 passes for 87 yards, helping Ritchie improve to 3-1.

Braxton (0-4) ran 69 plays to Ritchie's 45, but committed three turnovers and failed to convert its other scoring opportunities. Braxton's Jared Pitchford rushed 28 times for 162 yards.
